Challenge

A 4-bedroom Victorian terrace with original 1920s rubber-sheathed wiring throughout. The homeowner reported frequent circuit trips, warm socket faceplates, and a burning smell from the consumer unit.

Solution

Full property rewire including 12 new circuits, dual-RCD consumer unit, supplementary bonding, and smoke/heat detection. Cables routed through existing voids to minimise redecoration. Completed in 5 working days.

Result

Property now meets current BS 7671 standards with full certification. Insurance renewed without issue. No further electrical faults reported.

Challenge

Complete power failure at 1am in a family home with young children. Main incoming fuse had blown and the consumer unit showed signs of overheating.

Solution

Engineer arrived within 30 minutes. Isolated the fault, replaced the damaged main fuse holder, and identified the root cause — a deteriorated neutral connection. Temporary restoration within 45 minutes, permanent repair completed the following morning.

Power restored safely same night. Follow-up visit completed the permanent repair and a full consumer unit upgrade was scheduled.

Challenge

A landlord with 8 rental properties across Streatham and Tooting needed all EICRs completed within 3 weeks to meet tenancy renewal deadlines.

Solution

Scheduled 2 inspections per day across 4 days. Identified remedial work required at 3 properties. Completed all repairs within the following week. All certificates issued within the 3-week deadline.

Challenge

A 5-bedroom Dulwich Village home wanted integrated smart lighting across all rooms, garden, and outbuilding — controllable via app and voice with scene presets for entertaining.

Solution

Installed Lutron Caseta system with 42 smart switches, outdoor-rated controllers for garden lighting, and integration with existing Sonos and home automation. Programmed 8 scene presets. All wiring concealed within existing routes.

Result

Complete lighting control from phone or voice. Energy consumption reduced by approximately 40%. Client describes it as 'transformative'.

Challenge

A new restaurant required a complete electrical fit-out including commercial extraction, 3-phase cooking equipment, walk-in refrigeration, and front-of-house lighting — all within a tight 2-week build schedule.

Solution

Designed and installed a new 3-phase distribution board, dedicated circuits for all commercial equipment, LED lighting throughout, emergency lighting, and fire alarm integration. Worked alongside other trades to meet the deadline.

Result

Restaurant opened on schedule. Passed environmental health electrical inspection first time. No issues since opening.

Challenge

A converted farmhouse with 1970s wiring needed a partial rewire to support an EV charger installation. The existing supply was borderline for the additional load.

Solution

Upgraded the consumer unit, added a dedicated 32A circuit for the EV charger via SWA cable to the detached garage, and rewired the kitchen and utility room. Liaised with the DNO regarding supply capacity.

Result

EV charger operational with full certification. Kitchen and utility room brought to current standards. OZEV grant successfully claimed.
